May 4 COVID-19 Update: 41 ICU beds in use in Marion region

Illinois has had 2,341 new cases of COVID-19 and 46 fatalities since May 3, Gov. JB Pritzker said during his daily press conference. 

This brings the total to 63,840 total cases and 2,662 fatalities, Pritzker said. 

Pritzker also said there are 4,493 people in the hospital with COVID-19 and there have been 13,844 tests done in the last 24 hours, Pritzker said.

There are 41 intensive care unit beds in use in the Marion region, Pritzker said.

As of May 4, Williamson County has 37 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and Franklin County has 10 confirmed cases. Williamson County has 13 recovered patients and Franklin has 5, according to the Williamson-Franklin Bi-County Health Department Facebook page. 

As of May 4, Jackson County Health Department was not notified of any new cases of COVID-19. This is the first time there hasn’t been a new case in Jackson County since April 16, according to a press release on Jackson County Health Department website. 

That brings the total to 147 cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County, according to the website.
