John A. Logan College extends spring break, moves classes to an online format

John A. Logan College announced Friday they are taking necessary precautions in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. 

JALC President Ron House announced in a statement released on the website they have extended spring break until March 23 and classes will resume online until further notice. 

“The college is not closed and all services and offices will remain open,” House said. “All staff are expected to report to work as usual and fulfill their job responsibilities.”

The release said the college is reviewing their schedule of events and additional information on the use of college facilities will be forthcoming. 

Students are being urged to monitor their volmail accounts and the college website for updates and individual class information will be posted in the Learning Management System (D2L). 

College-related travel for faculty, staff and students will be limited to within the college district. 

Logan Fitness will remain open until further notice, according to the release. 

The college is urging students to follow the necessary precautions set by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control to help prevent spread of the disease.
