SIU, Craig Roberts Officially part ways after months of being put on Administrative Leave

April 4, 2023

After he was put on administrative leave back on October 18th, Southern Illinois University has officially parted ways with head coach, Craig Roberts. The news comes just shortly after the beginning of spring practices for the squad that made massive improvements under the first year head coach.

“SIU and Craig Roberts have parted ways, and the university is now conducting a national search for a new head coach,” said university officials.

It appears Alyssa Krause and Matt Ball will continue their combined role as Roberts’ replacement as the search for a new head coach begins.

Roberts helped guide the Dawgs to their first win in over two years to start the season, the first since their inaugural 2019 season. Roberts then marched the team onto a 8-4-3 record and its first MVC tournament appearance before being placed on administrative leave. In the three games following, including the MVC tournament game against Murray State, the Dawgs went 0-2-1.
