SIUC president and chancellor could see pay hikes this week

When the SIU Board of Trustees meets Thursday, members will consider potentially extensive pay raises for President Daniel F. Mahony, Jr. and Chancellor Austin Lane.

The issue is on the agenda of the meeting, which will be held at SIU School of Medicine, 801 North Rutledge, Springfield, Illinois, at approximately 10 a.m. The additional compensation is listed under “items recommended for approval.”

Lane was hired in 2020 at a salary of $340,000 per year, according to a contract published by the Board of Trustees. At the same time, Mahony, Jr. was making $435,000, according to a salary report published by the Daily Egyptian.
