SIU Day of Giving raises over $850,000

SIU raised over $850,000 in donations on its 2019 Day of Giving.

The Day of Giving is a 24-hour campaign to inspire alumni, students, parents, friends and the larger community to make a gift to any area of campus, according to the Day of Giving website.

The Day of Giving started at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 6 and ended at 6 a.m. the next day.

Donations came from a variety of sources, with over 2,300 individual gifts. Donors could choose a department, group or scholarship on campus to contribute to.

Saluki Athletics, the College of Engineering and the School of Medicine raised the most money, while the new Balancing Education, Experience and Reality (BEER) scholarship received the most individual contributions with 826.

This year’s Day of Giving was held in conjunction with celebrations of SIU’s 150th anniversary.
