Behind the “Horror”

Behind the Horror

By Matt Daray

Tyler Oranger, a junior from Marengo studying radio-television, prepares to show “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the Student Center Saturday as first-time viewers of the movie are Saran wrapped to each other below. Sara Vicente, a graduate student from Chicago studying educational psychology, and a member of the Student Programming Council, said the organization has been showing the movie every year for almost 30 years. Vicente said the movie is still shown because of the film’s cult following and how proactive the audience becomes in the experience. First time viewers of the film are marked with a red “V” on their foreheads and members of the crowd dress up as characters from the movie as part of the viewing experience.
