After upsetting third seeded University of Northern Iowa Panthers the night before, the Salukis couldn’t continue their Cinderella run, falling in the semifinals.

SIU played on Saturday for the first time since 2007 but weren’t able to get the chance to knock off top-seeded Wichita State University as they fell to the Sycamores 62-59.

Sophomore Anthony Beane tried to lead the comeback for the Salukis but fell short. Beane finished with 16 points. Freshman Tyler Smithpeters added 13.

Senior Desmar Jackson ended his stellar Saluki career in disappointing fashion. Jackson had eight points on one of ten shooting and four fouls.

Sycamore senior Jake Odum came alive in the second half with 20 points, 17 of which came after halftime.
