Four injured after head on collision, Saturday evening

City of Carbondale police are investigating a two vehicle, head-on collision on the corner of south Illinois street and Saluki drive, Saturday evening.
A blue Chevrolet Equinox CT collided with a gray Mazda 6 on the 1900 block of S. Illinois Ave, according to press release sent by Carbondale Police.

A southbound vehicle struck another vehicle stopped in the center turn lane, waiting to turn westbound onto Saluki Dr. from northbound S. Illinois Ave, according to the release.
Four people were transported to Memorial Hospital in Carbondale for treatment, according to Acray.
The driver, and sole occupant, of the southbound vehicle was transported from the scene by the Jackson County Ambulance Service and is in stable condition.
The three occupants of the other vehicle were also transported from the scene by Jackson County Ambulance Service.
Two of the three are in stable condition, according to the release.

After hearing that there was kids hurt because of this jackass I wish I would have let him hit me head on. I hope the kids make a full recovery. And I hope that drunk POS goes to prison but knowing the Illinois judicial system he will probably get probation and be driving again.

Thank you for calling to report an apparent drunk driver last Saturday night. Although he was not apprehended in time to prevent the accident, I appreciate you. The victims are friends and relatives of mine and they will all be okay except the one child will have a painful recovery which will take some time.

I can tell you exactly one of the two little boys was my grandson who was very seriously hurt transferred from. Carbondale after emergency surgery to st Louis where he still is and his friend also injured and my grandsons grandfather who is seriously hurt just going to have a good time at siu The drunk was released and taken to jail where I will make sure he stays

I saw the driver of the Mazda and he was drunk and/or high as a kite. He nearly caused a head on crash with me just seconds before in front of the coal plant. By time I hung up with 911 reporting him the wreck happened.
