The SIU student center encourages motorists driving through campus on Lincoln Drive between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 12 to seek an alternate route due to road closures.

The Department of public safety, according to a university press release, will periodically close Lincoln Drive between the Student Services Building and travel service.

The periodic road closures will be between five to 10 minutes at a time between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. or until work is finished.

In addition, portions of parking Lots 11 and 13 will also be temporarily closed beginning at 7 a.m. and will reopen once work is finished.

These temporary closures are due to the Steak n’ Shake being built in the student center. On Jan. 12 a helicopter will be lifting and replacing a rooftop ventilation unit on top of the student center.
