The SIU graduate holds bachelor’s degrees in speech, drama and English and a master’s degree in communications. She also has an educational specialist degree from SIU-Edwardsville.
Lewin worked as an assistant professor from 2006 to 2014, teaching in SIU’s College of Education and Human Services, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She also served as district superintendent of Carbondale Elementary School District 95 from 1995 to 2005, according to LinkedIn.
“I am delighted that Dr. Lewin will be sharing her passion for education and her leadership skills at this critical time and in this key position,” Colwell said in the release. “She has been a trailblazer throughout her career, and the university will benefit from her expertise and commitment.”
