Activist and author Paul Loeb will challenge SIU students Tuesday night to take responsibility for their communities.

Loeb, author of “Soul of a Citizen” and “The Impossible will Take Time,” will speak to students about the importance of voicing their opinions at 7:30 p.m. in Student Center Ballroom B, according to a university news release. Admission is free.

During his lecture, Loeb will talk about committing to a life of social justice.

Loeb said social activism is extraordinary because, time and time again, average people start movements that bring about change.

He also runs the Campus Election Engagement Project, a national nonpartisan program designed to encourage students to participate in elections.

Loeb has spoken at more than 500 colleges and universities across the country and has been published in the New York Times, Psychology Today and the Washington Post.
