Carr averaged 21.9 points per game for the Dawgs and captured the Most Valuable Player award in the Missouri Valley Conference under his last year of tutelage of SIUC men’s basketball coach Rich Herrin.

Herrin said now Carr needs to go out and make the best of his future with the Suns.

This is a golden opportunity for Chris, and it is great recognition for SIU basketball, he said.

He took a gamble leaving school and not getting his degree.

I don’t think it will be easy for Chris because right now all the veterans are staying in and playing if they can.

It’s going to be very competitive for a spot on any roster.

Carr’s next move will be participating in the summer league, travelling from Phoenix to Los Angeles and back between mid July and August.
