Knock Hunger Out of the Park is an ongoing event at the Southern Illinois Miners game night organized by the Miners, Silkworm Inc. and Idea Creative Marketing to profit food pantries in Southern Illinois. About $7,296 was received in food and monetary contribution on Wednesday at Rent One Park in Marion. Each game night is sponsored by a local business that chooses its own pantry to which to donate. On Wednesday night, First Southern Bank sponsored the event benefitting Gum Drops, a not-for-profit organization that provides a weekend package of child-friendly food to help enhance the quality of life for at-risk children throughout southern Illinois.
