September 28, 1997
The Jackson County Sheriffs Department is investigating the death of a Colorado Springs, Colo., man who drowned at Cedar Lake Thursday night.
Police have not determined what caused the man to drown.
The body of Donald Christopher Goudy, 29, was discovered at 10:35 a.m. Friday following a 30-minute dive search by the Rend Lake Search and Rescue team. Police said a friend of Goudy’s reported a probable drowning at 10:14 Thursday night, but search and rescue efforts by the Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources turned up nothing that night.
