Starting out with classical studies during her youth, violin virtuoso Lili Haydn has become one of the most sought-after live and session violinists on the pop music scene.
October 25, 1997
Haydn has appeared on the stage or in the studio with top mainstream artists like No Doubt, Tom Petty, Jewel, Porno for Pyros, Tony Toni Tone and the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn.
After a two-year stint as a featured act at the popular Los Angeles nightclub the Viper Room, Haydn has decided to try her hand in the limelight as a solo pop act. And for a debut, the result is impressive.
Lili is an incredibly bewitching collection of songs displaying Haydn’s capacity for radio-friendly material and catchy choruses.

The seductive Stranger shows Haydn has found a niche in her song-writing approach. The song has the ability to turn out a funky verse while adding a whirling, string-driven chorus without sounding out of place.
On Someday, Haydn gives alternative rock a try, and her fearlessness diving into a dilapidated genre could have proved fatal for her budding career. But the distorted guitar goes over surprisingly well with her light, tender voice and shadowy chorus (Will we ever understand the reasons we were chosen/Obligations for the seventh day of our creation).
Haydn deserves credit for her intrepidity. There is not a style of music she is not afraid to try. And debut albums are the perfect foundation for building a musical career and discovering inspiration.
Though not perfect (as if any debuts are), Lili still shows tremendous promise for an extremely talented young pop performer.
