Film Series Continues with movie from New Zealand

As part of Student Programming Council’s International Film Series, Once Were Warriors will be shown in the Student Center Auditorium Sunday and Monday. Show times for the film are 7 and 9:30 p.m. both nights.

Once Were Warriors is the acclaimed foreign love story that takes place within the Maori culture in New Zealand. The film was directed by Lee Tamahori.

Admission for Once Were Warriors is $1 for the public and free for members of the University Honors Program.

U2’s Pop Mart Tour rocks n’ rolls into St. Louis

The mega-popular Irish rock band U2 brings its bright and flashy stage set-up to St. Louis’ TransWorld Dome at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The concert is the next stop in the band’s massive, technically advanced Pop Mart tour. Since spring, U2 has been touring in support of its latest album Pop.

Previous shows along the tour have featured a blend of old fan favorites from the band’s early days and the songs continuing to carry U2 through the 90s.

The stage set-up boasts the world’s largest video screen, a 40-foot tall mechanical lemon and a 100-foot high drink stirrer with a gigantic olive attached to the end.

Third Eye Blind will open the show performing its straight-ahead style of modern pop and rock.

Cousin Andy’s brings back Summer

Folk artist Rick Summer Droit is set to play his style of uplifting songs about country life tonight at Cousin Andy’s Coffee House, 402 W. Mill St.

The Indiana native will be performing songs from his first full-length recording Gypsy Love as well as tracks from his live tape Live At Cousin Andy’s.

Droit began playing coffeehouses and clubs around Southern Illinois in the early 90s, and last year made the move to Austin, Texas, to record his debut album.

While in Austin, Droit performed at the Kerrville Folk Festival, and his performance of his song Sidewinder was broadcast across Swiss television.

Special guest singer/song writer Stephani Fein will get the show rolling when she steps up to the microphone around 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and low-income individuals. Doors open at 7 p.m.
