Two-car crash sends nine to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale

Nine people involved in a rollover car accident were taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with non-life threatening injuries Monday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m, a vehicle driving north on South Illinois Avenue ran a traffic light at West Walnut Street, hitting a van with eight passengers and causing the van to roll onto its side, according to a Carbondale Police Department press release. Passengers in the van had to be removed from the vehicle by police and members of the fire department.

Carbondale police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
