On Dec. 18, computer equipment valued at $1,297 was reported stolen from the first floor of the Technology Building between Nov. 3 and Nov. 21. Police have no suspects. David G. Harvey II, 31, of Carbondale was arrested at 1:39 a.m. Dec. 19 on the 700 block of East Grand Avenue for driving under the influence. Harvey was also cited for driving with a suspended license. Kyong Joo Byun, 21, of Carbondale was arrested at 2:28 a.m. Dec. 21 on the 700 block of East Park Street for two counts of driving under the influence, improper lane usage and driving without headlights. Byun posted $100 and his drivers license as bond and was released. Byun is waiting for a court appearance.
Tyler D. Hamlin, 21, of Carbondale was arrested Dec. 23 on South Illinois Avenue near the Physical Plant for driving under the influence. Hamlin was also charged with an outstanding Jackson County Court warrant for failing to appear for a previous court date for driving under the influence. Hamlin was taken to the Jackson County Jail where he posted bond and was released.
Cynthia A. Sheets, 23, of Carbondale was arrested at 2:12 a.m. Dec. 24 on the corner of South Wall Street and East Pleasant Hill Road for driving under the influence. Sheets was taken to Jackson County Jail where she posted bond and was released.

On Dec. 27, it was reported that some time between 9 p.m. Dec. 27 and 12 p.m. Dec. 28, windows were shot out on the Evaluation and Developmental Center, 500 Lewis Lane. It was reported that windshields on vehicles in the parking lot were also shot. Police have no suspects and no estimated cost of damage.
Julius A. Mickles, 28, of Carbondale was arrested at 10:41 p.m. Dec. 30 for domestic battery. Police said the victim had scratches and abrasions but needed no medical attention. Mickles was taken to Jackson County Jail where he posted bond and was released.
Jerry W. Canaday, 19, of Marion was arrested at 2:58 a.m. Jan. 1 at the corner of South Wall Street and East Grand Avenue for driving under the influence. Canaday was also cited for speeding and driving without proof of insurance. Canaday posted $100 and his drivers license as bond and was released.
At 4:10 a.m. Jan. 1, a complaint was filed by an Evergreen Terrace resident against her boyfriend for domestic battery and criminal damage to property. Police are searching for the suspect.
The Carbondale Fire Department extinguished a kitchen fire at 1:21 p.m. on Jan. 1 at Evergreen Terrace Apartments. Damages are estimated at $2000.
David Wyatt, 35, of Carbondale turned himself in to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Jan. 1 when he heard that complaints were filed against him earlier that morning for domestic battery.
At 12:50 a.m. Jan. 3 police received a loud noise complaint from a Southern Hills resident. Neophanysa D. Watkins, 20, of Washington Park was arrested for obstructing justice and resisting a peace officer. Jesse G. Oden, 19, of Carbondale was also arrested for obstructing justice. Both were taken to Jackson County Jail where they posted bond and were released.

Bryan R. Morris, 26, of Murphysboro was arrested at 2:44 a.m. Jan. 2 on East Grand Avenue near the railroad crossing on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in traffic court for a previous violation. Morris was being assisted by SIU police for car trouble when they realized that he had an outstanding warrant. Morris posted a cash bond and was released.
Timothy B. Maguire, 22, of Carbondale was arrested Wednesday for driving under the influence and illegal transportation of alcohol at South Oakland Avenue and Chautauqua Street. Maguire posted his driver’s license and $100 as bond and was released.
