Music lovers across America Betta Listen to the smooth and diverse sounds of newcomer Laurnea. She may smooth some people over with the whispering tones of Prince and the monotone pitch of Dionne Farris. And she is bound to perk ears as her gentle, but powerful voice streams onto each track.

On Betta Listen, released late in 1997, Laurnea comes across like a musical veteran with a refreshing sound. In its entirety, the album is composed what some may say professionally. Instruments are played in perfect sequence with Laurnea’s vocals. And besides, she brings something different to each song without goofing up anything, like some new artists.

But, there are a couple exceptions. The song, Days of Youth, has well-written lyrics but are the least bit moving. In this song, Laurnea sings to her audience about her childhood. The song most likely relates to the childhood of many listeners. However, the track is missing the perfect melody to compliment Laurnea’s flow.

Overall, this album places Laurnea in a league with the biggest stars. As long as she keeps her style fresh, she will attain the greatest success.
