Forget trespassing, this additional content is completely welcome.

“Dragon Age: Inquisition – Trespasser” is the third and final downloadable content for Bioware’s massive fantasy role-playing game, “Dragon Age: Inquisition.”

Players return to the role of their custom-made character the Inquisitor. This character is the head of the Inquisition, a military organization formed to combat a demonic invasion. A summit has been called two years after the threat has been stopped to discuss if the Inquisition is still needed.

The plot thickens when a dead body of a foreign country’s soldier is uncovered at the summit and the player is tasked with sorting it out.

“Dragon Age: Inquisition – Trespasser” is the epilogue to the original game. It simultaneously acts as a reunion episode and sets the story up for the next game in the Dragon Age series.

Gameplay remains largely the same — players pick three of nine unique companions, each with their own gear, personalities and abilities, to accompany them on their travels.

The only new aspect of gameplay gives an extra ability to players, but it does not greatly impact the core gameplay and is unnecessary until later in the story. Unfortunately, this doesn’t add anything special to the experience.

“Dragon Age: Inquisition” was one of the best games of 2014. It was the first in the series to focus on a big open world. This was great in some ways, but flawed because it had a lot of filler content. This distracted from the storytelling, an aspect Dragon Age is known for, and on some occasions would be tens of hours between a story segment.

Thankfully, this new content is more focused. It was great to have a strong and linear story driven mission last for six to seven hours.

Good storytelling makes this addition so worthwhile for Dragon Age fans and provides great closure. The two year time gap establishes what your companions have done after the game while simultaneously feeling nostalgic. The writing is comical, as well as heartwarming, and players will be sad upon completion.

The only issue with Trespasser is once it is completed, the player is not able to keep playing. Most open world games let the players continue playing even after the main storyline is completed. While it makes sense narratively, and they do warn you before starting, this is still a massive game and not everyone is going to have everything in the game finished upon completing it.

What makes this additional content so interesting is it also sets up the next game extremely well and it piqued my curiosity for the next installment in the franchise.

Overall, this is the best piece of additional content to “Dragon Age: Inquisition,” and does well by the fans.
