Meet the contestants for 35th annual Miss Eboness

Name: April Heach Year: Senior Major: Finance Hometown: Leavenworth, Kan. About Me: Heach is a member of the track and field team. When she is not participating in track she likes to hang out with friends and family, which she doesn’t get to do often. She likes to dance and read. She said she may come off shy but is actually a very outgoing person.

Name: Amber Young Year: Junior Major: Psychology Hometown: Carbondale About Me: Young describes herself as a really outgoing person who likes to sing, meet new people, and go out and have fun. She said she enjoys reading and likes school because she loves her major. She plans to specialize in child psychology because she loves working with children. She is very family oriented and comes from a close-knit family. She said she also speaks her mind. “I’m the smallest with the biggest mouth,” she said.

Name: Ariande Chambers Year: Junior Major: Photography Hometown: New Orleans About Me: Chambers is a transfer student, a student life adviser, a member of the Black Affairs Council and a member of the Saluki Volunteer Corp. She said she loves reading, working out, watching the Saluki football team and being active on campus. She also loves spending time with her son, Xavier, and her puppy, Rameses.

Name: Jendayi Ricardo Year: Sophomore Major: Elementary Education Hometown: Chicago About Me: Ricardo enjoys dancing and is a member of the Fatal Fusion Dance Team. She said she enjoys spending time with close friends and family and is really close to her mother. She loves children which is why she is an elementary education major. She said she is shy until you get to know her, but after that, she likes to talk a lot. She said she tends to get along with everybody.

Name: Kamela Houston Year: Junior Major: Accounting Hometown: Chicago About Me: Houston loves to dance, and fittingly, she is the vice president of the Fatal Fusion Dance Team. She said she is a very determined student, very hard working and a member of Blacks Interested in Business. Besides being hard working, she said she likes to have fun by singing, dancing, being sociable and participating in many of the events campus has to offer.

Name: Karita Tutwiler Year: Junior Major: Marketing Hometown: Calumet City About Me: Tutwiler is a very determined transfer student. She said it is important to her to be sociable during her college experience. Poetry is one of her passions, and she will perform an original piece for the contest. She is a member of the Black Affairs Council and the Black Women’s Task Force. She loves sports and performing, whether it be in the arts, dancing or playing her flute.

Name: Donielle Davenport Year: Junior Major: Pre-nursing Hometown: Flossmoor About Me: Davenport enjoys singing and spending time with her family and friends. She said she is very fun-loving and tries to make light of any situation. She helps Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. with community service projects and fundraisers. She said her strength to overcome many obstacles defines who she is.
