After SIU’s 37-31 victory over Hampton Saturday, Saluki coach Dale Lennon said playmaker Larry Warner has a heart so big he needs two hands to cover it during the national anthem.

The same could be said about the hole the senior running back earned on the back left shoulder of his jersey, which grew and grew as his earned yardage did.

As Pirate after Pirate tried to pillage Warner’s production and sink the Salukis’ ship, they were left pulling at strings – strings coming from a new Under Armor 21 jersey destined to be a 710 Bookstore best-seller.

Warner stole the spotlight from Lennon in the coach’s first game with SIU, exploding for 353 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.

But missing from the stat sheet is the beating his 5-foot-5, 169-pound body and uniform took in the name of a Saluki win.
