A trust fund has been created for the 5-year-old son of Tim Beaty, who was killed on Easter Sunday by a stray bullet.

All donations from the funeral Saturday will go to the Tim Beaty Memorial Fund, established Thursday by Tim’s father, Don Beaty.

Tim’s wife Jessica Beaty said donations will help support Jacob, who has autism, with his education and therapy services. She thanked the language and speech development services available at SIU for its help with her son. Jessica said the therapists will be even more important as Jacob deals with the death of his father.

Donations have also been collected by community radio station WDBX and from many who gathered Saturday night at the Lost Cross house — a popular music venue in Carbondale where Tim would often perform.

“[Tim] was a very dedicated father and I know that being Jake’s dad gave him more joy than anything in his life,” Jessica said. 

Donations can be made to People’s National Bank at 901 W. Broadway in Centralia.
