Banter: NBA ringers

By Gus Bode

Multiple superstars have been paired up heading into this NBA season, most notably Shaq and LeBron in Cleveland and Vince Carter and Dwight Howard in Orlando. What pairing of two current NBA superstars would lead to a ring regardless of the team around them?

Sean McGahan

‘Shaq and LeBron is pretty close, but at this point in their careers I think a Dwayne Wade and Tim Duncan pairing would pretty much guarantee a championship. Both are cold-blooded hard workers whose games would blend perfectly. Pick and roll, pick and pop, or just let them make up their own moves – it’s over.’

‘If I can pair the two best players in the NBA together I would start by selecting the best player, Kobe Bryant. And while its trendy to pick a big guy to pair a star scorer with, I will be different and say Chris Paul. With CP3 running the team, and Bryant just being better than every other player on the planet, I would feel very confident about my chances of winning a ring.’

Matt Freeland

‘I think Shaq and LeBron leads to a ring before Vince Carter and Dwight Howard.’ Keep in mind that L-B-J himself is a freak of nature. Team him up with an NBA legend, who is also a freak of nature, who still managed 18 points and eight rebounds last season and you’ve got the makings of a championship caliber team.’ Howard wasn’t even the best player on his team in last season’s playoffs and he won’t be again next season.’
