The goal of the walk, held by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., was to bring awareness to esophageal cancer.  Warren, a professor in speech communication at SIUC, died of esophageal cancer one year ago today. “I hope this legacy can carry on to my children,” said Gina Warren, the widow of John Warren. “My family is so grateful,” she said.
