Hoisington finishes 13th at Hoosier Collegiate
Sophomore Braden Hoisington led Saluki men’s golf at the Hoosier Collegiate in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend. His score of +9 was good for a 13th place finish in a field of 78 golfers.
Southern Illinois placed 11th as a team, at the tail end of a cluster of teams finishing within a few strokes of each other. The Salukis shot +61 as a team, which put them two strokes behind Eastern Michigan and three strokes behind Butler.
Hugo Archer tied for 36th individually, shooting +16 over the weekend. Justin Wingerter, Carsen Silliman and Tom Cleaton each tied for 57th with scores of +21.

Wingerter’s third round of 73, tying with Hoisington as the best round by a Saluki, balanced out a second round in which he was the only SIU golfer to shoot over 80.
The men’s golf team will have one more tournament in the state of Indiana, as they will partake in the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue University this weekend. The Salukis will then participate in the Missouri Valley Conference championships beginning April 23 in the Quad Cities area.
