SIU Opens Spring Season in Bayou City Collegiate Classic

The SIU men’s golf team competed in their first event of the 2023 spring schedule this past Monday and Tuesday.

The Salukis traveled to Houston, Texas and took part in the 16-team match held at the Westwood Golf Club.

Sophomore Braden Hoisington led SIU by carding an even 216, finishing zero over/under par. He finished in a tie for 22nd place.

Carsen Silliman tied for 36th after shooting a 219 and finishing 3 over par, while Andrew Thornton finished one stroke behind him at 220 and 4 over.

Tom Cleaton shot a 227 and carded 11 over, while Hugo Archer shot a 232 and finished 19 over to finish out the scoring for SIU.

SIU’s team scores improved as each round passed, shooting 296, 295, and 291 in rounds 1-2-3 to finish with a total score of 882 and 18 over par.

SIU will travel to Goodyear, Arizona on Sunday February 26 to compete in the Loyola Intercollegiate at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
