Salukis compete in Music City Challenge

The SIU Track and Field teams competed in the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University this weekend February 10 and 11.  

Rachel Anderson placed first in the women’s 3000-meter run with a time of 9:43.41.  Joining her near the top of the standings for women was Iaunia Pointer, who placed third in the 200 and fourth in the 400, with times of 24.17 seconds and 56.08 seconds.  

Shauniece O’Neal placed 5th in the weight toss with a distance of 73 feet 4.75 inches

Dawson Plab finished second in the men’s high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 10.75 inches.  Standout freshman Xavier Preston placed fifth in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 21.74 seconds.  

The men’s 4×400 meter relay, comprised of Bryso Wilson, Xavier Preston, Jeremiah Hamilton, and Joshua Delgado also finished ninth with a time of 3 minutes and 15 seconds.  

The Salukis will stay home and host the Don DeNoon Invite at the SIU Rec Center on February 17-18.
