4 Salukis debut indoor Track and Field season with wins, school records at Badger Midwest Invite

In the season debut for Saluki Track and Field, four different Salukis came up with wins this past Saturday over in Chicago, as well as breaking a few school records

Freshman Xavier Preston and junior Iaunia Pointer each broke school records in their respective events. Preston hit a 6.71 time in the men’s 60m dash to make the new record in school history for the event and Pointer’s time of 38.36 in the 300m also set a new school record for the event. Pointer also finished first in the women’s 60m dash with a 7.45 time. Both finished second overall in the event.

Senior Rachel Anderson earned first in the women’s 3000m event with a 9:46.50 time. Dawson Plab finished first as well in the men’s high jump with a 2.06m mark and Shauniece O’Neal hit 21.63m in the women’s weight throw to earn first place in her event as well.

The Salukis will compete once again next weekend in the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend Indiana this upcoming weekend on Saturday, January 21.
