Southern Illinois was the host of a women’s golf tournament over Sunday and Monday, October 10-11. That tournament was the Saluki Invitational, where the Salukis placed well.

The tournament featured many teams from the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley Conferences, with Belmont University taking home the title. They finished with a combined score of 896 (+32) and featured the top golfers, Delia Gibbs and Chloe Tarkany, who tied for first.

Gibbs and Tarkany both scored 221 (+5).

The top golfer for SIU was junior Janie Samattiyadeekul who finished 5th, with a combined score of 228 (+12). The second-best golfer for Southern Illinois, senior Ayanna Habeel, finished with 236 (+20), good enough to tie for 14th.

As previously mentioned, the Salukis placed four in the tournament out of seven teams. They finished with a combined score of 945 (+81).

The women’s golf team’s next competition will be the Little Rock Golf Classic. It will take place from October 16-17, and will be hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
