Jackson County reports eight new cases of COVID-19

The Jackson County Health Department reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

As of Sunday, there have been 4,342 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 65 deaths, according to the release, and 4,066 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 40 new cases Sunday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 3,292  new confirmed cases on Sunday and 40 additional deaths.

As of Jan. 24, there have been 1,101,819  positive cases in the state of Illinois and 18,750 deaths.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
