Jackson County reports 46 new cases of COVID-19

Jackson County Health Department reported 46 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.

The cases included four under the age of 10, two pre-teens, three teens, seven in their 20s, six in their 30s, five in their 40s, four in their 50s, six in their 60s, three in their 70s, three in their 80s and three in their 90s.

As of Monday, there have been 2,753 confirmed cases in Jackson County and 32 deaths, according to the release and 2,280 individuals have been released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 75 cases Monday.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Health reported 6,190 confirmed cases on Monday and  85 additional deaths. To date, there have been 726,304 cases in the state and 12,278 deaths.

SIU reported 22 cases of COVID-19 from Nov. 16-22, all of which were students.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
