COVID-19 Update: Jackson County reports 19 new cases one death

Jackson County Health Department reported 19 new cases of COVID-19 and one death on Thursday.

The cases included one under 10, seven in their 20s, three in their 40s, two in their 50s, one in their 60s, and five in their 70s. The individual who died was a man in his 80s.

As of Wednesday, there have been a total of 1,614 cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County and 27 related deaths.

Four individuals were also released from isolation on Thursday in accordance with CDC guidelines, bringing the total to 1,415 released individuals.

Franklin and Williamson Counties reported 56 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

Region 5 of Illinois, which includes Jackson, Williamson and Franklin Counties, remains in resurgence mitigation efforts. This includes measures restricting bar and restaurant occupancy and hours, as well as limiting gathering sizes.

Illinois Department of Public Health announced a total of  6,363  new cases of COVID-19 statewide, including 56 COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday.

The Jackson County Health Department asks all residents to follow public health guidelines by wearing a mask in public, maintaining social distance, avoiding social gatherings, washing hands frequently and working with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
