SIU football released two suspended players from its roster head coachDale Lennon announced on Monday.

“After we’ve done all of our due diligence and talked to everyone that we feel wee need to talk too, coach Lennon and I felt this was the best course of action,” Moccia said.

Lennon also announced that junior defensive end Adam Brandt and senior running back Mika’il McCall will be back for this weekend’s game against Northern Iowa.

McCall and Brandt did not travel to the game against Missouri State for disciplinary reasons.

Burnett was arrested Nov. 1 for possession of nearly 700 grams of cannabis, intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia according to court records acquired by the Daily Egyptian Nov. 5.

According to a statement of probable cause by CPD officer Jeramie Stewart, Suggs said he assisted Burnett in the sale of cannabis to prevent anything from happening to Burnett. Suggs also admitted to a Carbondale police officer that an ounce of cannabis was taken from his room following a possible home invasion at the two player’s residence.
