Illinois Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner made his first stop on a statewide “Thank You Tour” in Marion Friday morning.

Rauner spoke to a full house at The Vault Café, thanking volunteers, voters and supporters.

On Thursday, Rauner named members of his transition team, which include former White House chief of staff Bill Daley and former Southern Illinois University President Glenn Poshard.

Rauner said he wanted a diverse team so he could best serve the people of Illinois.

“It’s all about tapping into the great resources of the people of Illinois,” Rauner said today. “We want the smartest, most accomplished leaders in the state to help be a part of our government organization.”

After a tight race, Rauner won receiving just about 50 percent of the vote while current Gov. Pat Quinn received about 45 percent.

Other stops on Rauner’s statewide tour include Rockford, Peoria and Springfield.
