Fundraising for future fun

By Laura Roberts

Splashy, the mascot for Carbondale’s planned Super Splash Park, welcomes attendees to a fundraiser concert Saturday at the Varsity Center for the Arts. Carter and Connelley, an area bluegrass band, performed to raise money for the water park that is set for construction at the Carbondale Super Block Sports Multi-Complex. The park is slated to open in May 2014, and its total building cost is $3.5 million. However, $625,000 must be raised before the city can receive a $2.5 million grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  Laura Roberts-Daily Egyptian
