Letter to the Editor
The Daily Egyptian is currently looking for a weekly or bi-montly guest columnist — preferably a well-rounded individual who closely follows daily news and local issues. Please contact the Opinion editor at [email protected] for details.
Would you like to submit a letter to the editor or guest column to the Daily Egyptian? Follow the guidelines outlined below and you may be considered for publication.
- Letters and guest columns must be submitted with author’s contact information, preferably via email. Phone numbers are required to verify authorship, but will not be published. If the DE considers your submission for publication, the Opinion editor will call for verification.
- Letters to the editor are typically limited to 400 words and is a response to a current issue on campus or in the surrounding area.
- Guest columns are typically limited to 500 words and should cover a newsworthy issue, preferably something local which affects the university’s community.
- Letters and guest columns should be accurate. The Daily Egyptian reserves the right to edit for accuracy and clarity.
- Students must include year and major. Faculty must include rank and department. Others should include hometown.
- The Daily Egyptian is a “designated public forum.” Student editors have the authority to make all content decisions without censorship or advance approval. We reserve the right to not publish any letter or guest column.
