Department of Public Safety

-Rosendo Alvarez, a 55-year-old SIUC student from Chicago, was arrested at Woody Hall on Friday for public possession of alcohol. He was issued a Carbondale city notice to appear and released.

-A 26-year-old SIUC student was arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing an officer Saturday in Lot 58. Eddie Thomas was issued a Carbondale city notice to appear and released.

-An SIUC student from Chicago was arrested Sunday from the Student Center on a failure to appear warrant out of Jackson County. Nicholaus Bates posted a $175 cash bond and was released.

-A 23-year-old SIUC student told police he was struck Sunday by Victor L. Jones, a 20-year-old SIUC student from Rock Island. After the incident, Jones fled from police officers. He was later apprehended in front of the Recreation Center and issued a Carbondale City notice to appear for resisting a police officer. The victim did not require medical treatment.

-Christopher Booker, a 25-year-old SIUC student from Chicago, was arrested for disorderly conduct Monday in Faner Hall. Booker was issued a Carbondale City pay-by-mail citation and released.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct violation in Schneider Hall on Sunday. Timothy Strelzyk, an 18-year-old SIUC student from Chicago, was issued a Carbondale City pay-by-mail citation and released.

Carbondale

-Police responded to a business in the 1500 block of North Marion Street in reference to a report of a theft Wednesday. During the course of the investigation, officers learned two suspects stole property being stored in an open field around 9:40 a.m. that day.  The suspects are described as two black males driving a silver pickup truck, which resembled a Ford Ranger. The suspects were last seen fleeing the area east on Dillinger Road from North Marion Street. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

-The investigation continues into a report of residential burglary. Officers learned an unknown suspect entered a residence and stole property sometime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
