University officials confirmed an SIU student was found dead in a residence hall on campus Thursday. The cause of death has not yet been determined and the student’s identity has not been released.

Officials said no foul play was involved in the student’s death.

SIU spokeswoman Rae Goldsmith said the university is assisting the student’s family and encourages SIU community members to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.
