Saluki men’s basketball will now be without three of seven new players who joined the team this season.

Coach Barry Hinson announced Thursday junior forward Jeremy Postell has been deemed academically ineligible and will transfer after the spring semester.

Postell joins guards Bobby Mannie and Aaron Siler as the three players to depart from the program this season. Mannie and Siler left for separate personal reasons.

After transferring from New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, Postell averaged 1.7 points per game in six appearances this season. He had not played since the Dec. 12 game against North Texas and had not registered a full minute of play since Dec. 5 at North Texas.

Per NCAA rules, Postell is still eligible to practice with the team.

Postell’s transfer after the season will free up a scholarship for Hinson, who now has two open scholarships to offer to the class of 2016 recruits.
