For the third time in five weeks this season, freshman pitcher Brianna Jones was honored with a Missouri Valley Conference weekly award.

Jones was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week on Monday for her efforts at the USF UnderArmour Showcase this past weekend.

She made four appearances, going 3-1 allowing just one earned run and 11 hits in 16.2 innings of work.

This was Jones’ second time winning the Newcomer of the Week award. She has also earned Pitcher of the Week two times.

Jones is the only player in the MVC to be honored with a weekly award multiple times so far this season

Her shutout Friday against North Florida was the nation-leading sixth on the year.

Jones now stands at 10-3 with a 1.51 ERA and 67 strikeouts this season.
