Carbondale firefighters responded to structure fire in the 6000 block of Old Highway 13 in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies and Carbondale police arrived on scene about 12:30 a.m. and reported flames were visible on the backside of the home, according to a news release. Local traffic was blocked for more than two hours as firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The only resident of the home was awakened by a smoke detector and exited unharmed, police said.

Police said the cause of the fire was not believed to be suspicious.
