Although the season is over, two SIU softball players keep earning accolades.

Junior first baseman Shaye Harre and freshman pitcher Brianna Jones were both named Thursday to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s All-Region teams in the Mideast region.

Harre was a first-team selection and Jones was a third-team selection.

This is Harre’s second time being named first-team this month after being named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team last week.

She had team-highs with a .368 batting average, 12 home runs and 42 RBIs. She is the first Saluki since Mallory Duran in 2011 to earn first-team honors.

Jones led the MVC among those with at least 15 appearances with a 1.92 ERA and was fifth nationally with 10 shutouts. She is one of 10 finalists for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year award.

She was also a first-team All-MVC selection, and is the first freshman to receive all-region honors since Taylor Orsburn in 2011.
